1943 yearbook of the Army Air Forces Pilot School, Laughlin Field, Del Rio Texas. The units of the Training Command included:

  • Staff and Special Staff, headquarters
  • Flight Training Instructors
  • Administrative Officers
  • Station Hospital staff and nurses
  • 458th Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron
  • 62nd Two Engine Flying Training Squadron
  • 877th Pilot Transition Training Squadron
  • Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron
  • 1098th Guard Squadron
  • Detachment Medical Department
  • 332nd Aviation Squadron
All together there are pictures of the several hundred officers and enlisted personnel stationed at Laughlin in 1943. The 332nd Aviation Squadron was composed of African-Americans with about 150 members.

Includes an introduction with a general history of the Army Air Force, with pictures of the early days of military aviation. The book then goes into the A.A.F. Training Command, and then the bulk of the book focuses on the Army Air Forces Pilot School (Specialized Two Engine) at Laughlin Army Air Field in Del Rio.  Very well illustrated throughout. An important piece of the history of the Army Air Forces operations in World War II.

Hard cover, blue cloth, blindstamp Army eagle device with Army Air Forces Training Command shield emblem in color on front, 12 1/4" X 9", 100 pages. Front endpapers blue graphic.

Very good condition throughout. Clean, unmarked with a minor amount of wear to head and tail or spine and corner tips. else clean, square and tight.
