A very early printing of this classic tale, dust jacket not price clipped and showing price of $2.75.
Hardcover, in graphic dust jacket. Green cloth, quarter-bound in black buckram, gilt spine lettering, Harper Torch-light logo, fore-edge deckle. Octavo, (8 1/4" X 5 3/4"), 158 pages.
Volume has small bumps on lower tips, very mild scuffing to spine head and tail. Mild toning to end papers, previous owner's name and gifting inscription on paste downs and ffep, with a touching dedication on the half-title page for a cherished family pet, else clean & tight. Dust jacket has wear along spine edges, mild edge wear, head and tail a bit frayed, some soiling to covers. Jacket is now encased in a Brodart archival overwrap.
