Major General Paul H. Streit was commanding officer of Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 1949 t0 1953. This work is a study of the early chapters of General Strait's life from growing up in Texas to his long and distinguished career as an army surgeon through the two world wars and up to his appointment to Walter Reed Hospital. The author, Mary Walker Standlee, was the historian at Walter Reed Hospital from 1938 until her retirement. This work is a personally published by-product of her exhaustive three volume history of Walter Reed Medical Center, "Borden's Dream", written in 1952 and finally published in 2009.
Solidly bound in hardcover, green cloth, white spine lettering. 8 1/2" X 11" Binding by the Library Binding Company of Waco, Texas. Laid in printer's receipt indicates this is one of two copies bound. Frontispiece real photo of Paul H. Streit tipped in, 100 pages printed recto. With bibliography. Very good to near fine, slight mustiness but clean, unmarked, square and tight with only trivial signs of handling.
