Touched With Valor:
Civil War Papers and Casualty Reports of Hood's Texas Brigade
Written and collected by
General Jerome B. Robertson, Commander of Hood's Texas Brigade 1862-1864
Edited and with a Biography of General Robertson by Colonel Harold B. Simpson
Limited first edition of 750 copies, Inscribed and signed by Col. Simpson, Hill Junior College Press, 1964
Touched with Valor is a story in three parts - the biography of General Jerome Bonaparte Robertson, his Civil War correspondence (which primarily concerned his command, Hood's Texas Brigade), and the appalling casualty lists of this Brigade as accumulated by Robertson during the war.
Red cloth hardcover, gilt spine lettering, octavo (9 1/4" X 6 1/4"), with dust jacket. pp xv, 126, 8 plates, includes index.
Condition: A limited amount of tidy underlining, a couple of marginal annotations about the inscribee's ancestors in the war, inscribed and signed by Col. Harold B. Simpson on the half-title page, else a fine volume. Dust jacket is very good with a bit of edge disturbance, mostly on top edge, now in archival Brodart poly overwrap. A important bit of Texana by one of Texas' finest students of the role of Texans in the Civil War.
